Binder dosing
Dosing stations with intermediate vessels and piston pumps supply the core sand mixer with the specified quantity of binder.
Technical overview
- Dosing technology
- Intermediate vessels and piston pumps
- Setpoints
- Via the programmable logic controller
- Process
- Hot-Box, Cold-Box, resol and inorganic systems
- Accuracy
- Below 1% achievable, depending on configuration
Technical details
Binder is metered into the mixer through a dosing cabinet in which the individual binder components are clearly arranged. Setpoints are entered via the programmable logic controller. Intermediate vessels and piston pumps ensure accurate, bubble-free dosing into the mixer. Depending on configuration, dosing accuracies of < 1% are achievable, supporting consistent core sand quality and low binder consumption.
Systems are available for various types of core sand, including:
- Hot-Box
- Cold-Box
- Resol
- Inorganic
Features and advantages of the binder dosing systems:
- Visual monitoring of binder quality through the use of glass cylinders.
- Accurate dosing thanks to adapted dosing pump sizes
- Visible air bubbles in the binder indicate a faulty pipe connection from the binder storage system
- Intermediate vessel for binder supply over longer distances
- Easily removable binder nozzles on the mixer for cleaning and calibration
- Easy adjustment of binder quantities using displacement measuring systems on the dosing system
- Clearly arranged installation in a control cabinet with integrated spill containment tray
- Design matched to requirements, including corrosive binders
Questions and answers
Which types of core sand are the dosing stations designed for?
KLANN offers binder dosing systems for Hot-Box, Cold-Box, resol and inorganic core sands, among others. The configuration is matched to the binders used.
What dosing accuracy is possible?
Depending on configuration, dosing accuracies below 1% are achievable. Intermediate vessels and piston pumps feed the binders into the mixer; setpoints are specified through the programmable logic controller.
How can the binder quantities be calibrated?
The dosing nozzles on the mixer are easy to remove for cleaning and calibration. Displacement measuring systems on the dosing system allow the binder quantities to be adjusted.
