Core sand from mixer to core shooting machine
The KLANN HLK system transports batches of core sand using a hoist trolley on a DEMAG KBK crane rail. The trolley travels horizontally; a chain hoist can also lower and raise the container at defined positions.
This allows the system to collect core sand directly from a PKM mixer installed at floor level. The trolley then moves above the designated core shooting machine and empties the container through a bottom slide gate.
The system requires neither a steel platform structure nor trailing cables on the trolley. Curves, longer distances and changes in elevation can be incorporated into the route. The concept is therefore also suitable for retrofitting existing core shops.
Features of the HLK core sand distribution system
- Vertical and horizontal transport of core sand batches
- Floor-level collection directly from the PKM mixer
- Standard components from the DEMAG crane rail system
- Curved routes, including changes in elevation
- Travel speeds up to 50 m/min and distances of several hundred metres, depending on configuration
- Low overall height without steel platforms or trailing cables on the trolley
- Robust, low-maintenance design
- Safety interlock on the transport container and emergency stop bumper for unexpected collisions
- PU lining for near-complete emptying of the container
- Optional lids to limit premature curing during transport
Questions and answers
Does HLK core sand distribution require a steel platform?
No. The container trolley travels on a crane rail. Using the chain hoist, it can collect core sand from a mixer installed at floor level. A steel platform structure is not required for this system.
Can the system negotiate curves and changes in elevation?
Yes. The HLK can follow curved routes as well as ascending and descending sections. The possible route and conveying capacity depend on the specific plant design.
How do the PKM mixer and hoist trolley work together?
The hoist trolley lowers its container at the mixer and collects the core sand. The container is then raised, moved to the core shooting machine and emptied through the bottom slide gate.
